Botox
Botox injections are noted primarily for reducing the look of facial wrinkles. But Botox is also used to treat other issues, including excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), a lazy eye, neck spasms (cervical dystonia), and an overactive bladder. For some patients, Botox injections may help prevent chronic migraines.
Botox injections use a toxin called onobotulinumtoxinA to prevent a muscle from moving temporarily. The microbe that causes botulism also produces this toxin.
Blepharoplasty
Blepharoplasty is an eyelid surgery that tightens sagging eyelids and may involve removing excess skin, muscle, and fat. As you age, the muscles supporting the eyelids weaken. Some patients have excess fat above and below the eyelids, causing sagging eyebrows, droopy upper lids, and bags under the eyes.
This droopy or excess skin around the eyes can reduce peripheral vision, especially the upper and outer areas of the visual field. In many cases, Blepharoplasty can reduce or even eliminate these vision problems and make the eyes appear younger and more alert. Blepharoplasty can be completed on the upper and lower eyelids.
Juvederm® Facial Fillers
Made of a hyaluronic acid gel, Juvederm® is a naturally-occurring substance in the skin that contributes to volume and hydration. Juvederm® is designed to temporarily correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Juvederm® is made by Allergan, the same makers of Botox®.
The average length of filler injections is about 10 to 20 minutes per session, depending on the individual and the amount of areas being treated.
Dermal filler injections require very minimal downtime, allowing patients to return to work and their normal activities directly following treatment. Yet for the first 24 hours, individuals may be instructed to refrain from strenuous activities and excessive sun or heat exposure.
